Blossom Soccer Stadium (San Antonio, TX)
Directions to Blossom: Take I-35 south into San Antonio. Just south of Loop 1604, take exit 169 to Wurzbach Parkway. Immediately after the exit, you are actually on O'Connor road, but this soon turns into the parkway. Follow the parkway west for just over 5 miles, eventually passing exits for Nacogdoches and then Wetmore Road. Soon after this, the concrete median disappears. You pass a traffic light that has no left turn, and then the next light is for NE Entrance road. Take a left at this light. The road is kind of obscure, but with the light it is not hard to find. NE Entrance road, which is a little beat-up, travels along the edge of the airport. At the first intersection, a T, take a right onto E Bitters Road. About 0.5 mile along Bitters, the soccer stadium appears on your right. You can park in the lot to the right, just past the stadium, if there is space, or more likely along E Bitters Road.
This 'back-way' of getting to the stadium is designed to stay away from the football stadium next to the soccer stadium, and the impenetrable gridlock that sometimes results, especially on Friday.
I used to use the following directions, but I think my new ones are better now. For the record, however: From Austin, take I-35 south to Loop 1604 (Anderson Loop), at exit 172 just north of San Antonio. Head west on 1604 for around 10 miles to US-281. Head south on 281. After about 3 miles, exit right, at Nakoma/Sandau/Rhapsody, the first exit after Bitters. Turn left at the exit and follow Nakoma Drive. It will wind around the edge of the airport, then veer left and become Jones-Maltsberger. In another 0.5 mile, turn right onto Bitters Road. The football stadium appears first, on your left, with the soccer stadium up next. You can also exit Bitters instead of Nakoma. In that case, go left and follow Bitters which becomes Starcrest. Turn right at Jones-Maltsberger, then turn left onto Bitters. Be aware that high school football games (usually Friday nights) can make the traffic completely horrible near the stadium. The Nakoma exit, I think, will save you from some of the worst of it.
If you are hungry, three miles south of the sign for Alligator Creek, in New Braunfels, you can take exit 189, Highway 46, and head right. This leads to a Rudy's BBQ, two miles down on the right.
