There is a thin plating of technetium-99 on this disk and this radioactive sample gives about 200 counts per minute.

Technetium-99m is used in medical diagnosis.
Sodium pertechnate (NaTcO4) is injected into patients, and
the gamma radiation from the Tc is recorded by special cameras.
